In the 1900s, Lisan feels her life is restricted while she resides with Uncle Liu’s in his Shanghai house. She is grateful to him because he rescued her, an orphan, but wanting some independence, she applies for a position with Mrs Stanton as her personal secretary. The wealthy Stantons have newly arrived in China from USA, but all isn’t as it seems. Lisan finds Mrs Stanton easy to work for as well as the staff, but the mansion, Lennox Mannor, is full of mystery and falling apart. She has nightmares and soon learns the residence’s terrible past. Trouble brews for Mrs Stanton with one worry after another and Lisan finds herself turning more to the gardener, Yao.
When she learns her own past as well as Mrs Stanton’s, she is in grave danger. Can she escape from Lennox Mannor and Shanghai in time?
